Agro-Plant technologies one of the few Successful Agribusiness in South-Nyanza

 

Agro-plant technologies , propagates clean planting materials and sells it to farmers. It was a challenge to the farmers to find such. This company came to bridge that gap. Agroplant technologies deals in selling among many things grafted avocados,Mango,Passion,oranges,apples tissue avocados  name them.

These products are of the original type. They are carefully sourced from different parts of the country .They are also maintained by trained professionals therefore  a guarantee to farmers that these products are of good standards.



Agroplant technologies have a lab that tests some of the seedlings scientifically and may make recommendations to the farmers. This aspect enhances their credibility as the number one provider of seedlings in South Nyanza and beyond.

In addition to this, these seedlings mature early and are of good yield. After harvesting they have a long shelf life,For instance the avocado and bananas once harvested can take about forty days in the shelf unlike other which take a shorter time before they get bad.

The Israel type of banana once grown can take about twenty years before the trees can no longer give fruits compared to most which would take five years. Agro-plant technologies have these seedlings stocked fully all year round to cater for their customers. They offer training to the farmers. They also help to link farmers to the markets for their farm produce.

Agro-plant technologies in the recent past has innovated beyond measure. They have come up with new ways of making Pakash organic fertilizer which they sell to their customers. This fertilizer they say  is highly rich in nutrients. It can be used too for topdressing it is available to their farms in Nyanchwa and Mosocho in Kisii.

Any business experiences challenges Agro-plant is not an exception as it too has its own fair of challenges. Sometimes predicting  demand for their products for a particular season can shift to another product after they have stocked a product. They explain that this happens to farmer due to ignorance and lack of information.This can be addressed   by giving knowledge and information  to farmers.

Change in weather parterns  is also a challenge. They say this can be addressed by using the greenhouse technology which means you can regulate the temperatures to optimum levels to support plant growth incase the weather patterns change to extremes of both hot and cold.

The other challenge is access to capital.This is a huge challenge considering all they use is a huge cost,access to finance becomes a problem.Though they say they are open and optimistic that they will access funding to enable them serve even many farmers.

Agroplant technologies look at a future where they will expand to all subcounties in Kisii and beyond Kisii since they sell their seedlings all the way to Tranzoia county for instance among others.They appeal to their existing customers to continue trusting in their products.
